This converter derives every size from foot length in millimetres using the real geometric sizing systems rather than copying another site's chart. Because brands cut shoes differently, we name where the common ones run small or large rather than pretending one number is the final word.

How the numbers are calculated

US and UK sizes are built on the barleycorn scale — each full size step is 1/3 inch (8.47 mm) of internal shoe length, with UK size 0 starting at 4 inches. EU sizes use the French Paris-point scale, where each point equals 2/3 cm — so a men's EU size is roughly (foot length in cm × 1.5) + a small constant. Japan, China, and Korea all use direct Mondopoint measurement: the number is your foot length in millimetres (Korea, rounded to the nearest 5 mm) or centimetres (Japan, China) — no conversion formula needed, it's a direct read of foot length. This is why Mondopoint-based sizes are considered the most accurate: they're the measurement itself, not a converted approximation.

India uses the same numbering as UK sizing — a UK 8 and an Indian 8 are the same size, a legacy of India's shoe industry adopting British sizing conventions. The main exception is a small number of Indian brands (Bata and Liberty among them) that run about half a size larger than the standard.
